My internship goals
Starting any adventure without setting proper goals might eventually lead to an unpleasant ending. To find out more about my goals and whether I completed them, click on the button.
My internship took place at Action Damien, a non-profit organisation dedicated to combating neglected diseases such as leprosy and tuberculosis while also addressing the social stigma and exclusion associated with these illnesses. The organisation works at the intersection of healthcare, education, and advocacy, using awareness and educational programs to promote inclusion, dignity, and understanding within communities both in Belgium and in its partner countries.
The context of the organisation is strongly international and multidisciplinary, bringing together educational teams, medical expertise, communication specialists, and local partners. Unlike formal school environments, much of its work takes place in non-formal educational settings, where learning is designed to raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and foster global citizenship among students, teachers, and youth groups. This requires educational initiatives to be not only pedagogically sound but also culturally sensitive and ethically responsible, ensuring that messages empower communities without reinforcing stereotypes.
