During my internship at Action Damien, I navigated challenges, gained new skills, and evolved from student to reflective professional.

Hi Lovies
During the internship, I worked on several educational projects aimed at raising awareness about diseases such as Leprosy, Tuberculosis and global health and fostering dialogue between communities. My main contributions included:
Designing the Bridge Builders program connecting youth in Belgium and Africa (Nigeria).
Designing an educational framework for school discovery trips, including preparation workshops, on-site learning, and post-trip reflection.
Creating awareness videos and educational materials for young audiences.
Developing interactive learning tools such as a dilemma-based educational game.
Reviewing pedagogical alignment of educational materials with curriculum expectations.
Presenting project outcomes and ensuring documentation for organizational continuity.
The outcomes of these projects were primarily the creation of structured, adaptable educational resources that can continue to be developed and used by the organization beyond my internship period. Rather than producing fixed final products, the work contributed to strengthening ongoing initiatives by providing clear frameworks, learning materials, and documented processes that support awareness-raising and intercultural education. The programs and tools developed were designed to be flexible so they can be adjusted to different audiences, schools, and partner contexts, ensuring their long-term relevance. Seeing my work compiled, shared, and prepared for continuation helped me realize that the value of my contribution was in supporting a longer process rather than completing something final on my own. Personally, this shifted my understanding of impact and this is to say, instead of measuring success by finished products, I began to see it in how my work could be reused, improved, and integrated into the organization's ongoing educational mission. It was rewarding to know that the resources, concepts, and documentation I developed can serve as starting points for future programs and collaborations, even after my internship ends.
